A family starting point

Help your child find their first team

Look for a group that fits your child’s age, experience and confidence. A clear first-session plan helps the whole family.

  1. Ask about the group

Share an age range and experience level with the organizer. Ask how beginners are introduced and whether the group uses a soft ball or hard ball.

  2. Understand supervision

Ask about coaching, supervision, guardian attendance, changing arrangements and the organization’s safeguarding contact. Keep the enquiry in an adult’s name.

  3. Check the family commitment

Confirm the venue, dates, costs, loan kit and cancellation arrangements. Ask what a child should do if they feel unsure during the session.

A first message you can adapt

Copy this and replace the bracketed text before using the organizer’s own contact route. Keep a child’s full name and other private details out of an initial enquiry.
